Where
This summer, I’ll be working as an AASPIRE intern for Madison Area Transportation Planning Board under Planning Division in City of Madison.
Why
I’ve majored in GIS and RS for my entire college yet I felt like it could be applied in so many fields that I didn’t know which specific field would match my interests until I did a project about road accessibility in Shanghai. As transportation becoming one of my biggest interests, I dig in more about how to process and utilize various types of data and help the city to be more organized and make people’s lives easier.
What
One of my main projects is to develop networks from sources like current roads, sidewalks, to test the road accessibility within Dane County using various parameters to answer questions from what is the fastest route from where I am to the bus station and how long will it take, to how many bus routes are there in total within the 5-minute walking circle of where I live, and how many of them are going to downtown area.
Wow
(Let’s leave some space for the super cool things to come)
As I’m working on the main project, there are some other projects ongoing as well. One of the interesting projects I did recently was to update the slope layer for Low-Stress Bike Route Finder Application.

Hey, I like the idea of a low-stress bike route finder app. based on slope. It is a good application for walking too! Please rate Observatory Hill Westbound as a don’t even try to walk it if you are over 40 and overweight. Lol. Congrats.
